Story Sharing
Sharing a story with other accounts
Stories can be shared with users of the DataStories platform.
In order to share a story, click the sharing button from the
Your stories
page:
A dialog should appear, to let you configure your sharing. The first step is to enter the name of the person you want to share your story with. You can add many names, by separating them with commas:
You can always add more names later on.
If you enter the email of an account that is not linked to the DataStories platform, an invitation link will be sent to them by email, so that they can join the platform!
We allow you to choose the permission that best match your sharing, for each of the recipients. The permissions we allow are:
- Can share and clone (default choice) -- with this permission, the recipient will be able to share your story to someone else, as well as clone your story.
- Can share -- with this permission, the recipient will be able to share your story to someone else, but won't be able to clone it.
- Viewer -- with this permission, the recipient will be able to view your story, but won't be able to share nor clone it.
Whatever permission you give to your story, your data source will become visible to the recipient.
You can always find back stories shared by you in the corresponding tab of the
Your Stories
page.Similarly, stories shared with you can be seen via the
Shared with me
tab.
From the recipient account (the one you shared the story with), the story appears with an orange mark:
Some options might be disabled from the recipient account, depending on the permissions you gave to the recipient for that story.
Revoking a sharing
If you shared a story and would like to revoke your sharing, or else modify the permissions you have to a story.
From the Your Stories
page, click on the sharing functionality of your
story:
A dialog should open, that summarizes the existing sharing operations you performed:
From there, you can modify a permission or else Revoke
it.
